This is our chance to get to know someone better who is working in the craft beer industry in Western Canada.
1. Who are you?
Hey! My name is Erin Baker (she/her). I moved out west from Ontario 10 years ago and developed a passion for craft beer! I love spending time outdoors camping and going on many adventures with my dog and fiancee!
2. What do you do?
I started working in the brewing industry in Vancouver but early on in my career found my way to Calgary. I have been with Trolley 5 Brewery since their opening day 5 years ago. I am currently a Brewer and their Production Manager! Kicking ass and taking names!
3. What is your biggest pet peeve about the industry?
People feeling like this must be a male dominated industry. Anybody can work in this industry if you have a passion and put your mind to it!
4. What do you love most about working in the industry?
I like the hard work, it feels good to work hard and see your accomplishments. I also love the people and the idea that even though we are all competing for the same shelf space or tap space with beer we always are willing to help each other out. You can reach out to almost any brewery and they will offer to help you with anything you are missing or contacts etc.
5. What is your favourite beer right now?
I am loving the New England styles and throw some sours in to mix things up! Not one beer in particular as I am trying to try as many as I can right now with so many new breweries opening up putting out amazing products.
6. What local charity should we be paying attention to?
The Centre for Sexuality is hosting their Camp Fyrefly coming up and I think this is a huge thing for youth in need!
