This is our chance to get to know someone better who is working in the craft beer industry in Western Canada.
1. Who are you?
Well Hello! I’m Maegan (she/her) a born and raised Calgarian. I absolutely love my girlfriend Jules, been together for 6 years, my two fur baby cats Emma and Kahoni (kah- HO- nee, which is Hawaiian for kisses) and biking.
2. What do you do?
Before starting my career at Cask Global Canning, I was Lead and Manager of a previous mobile canning company. I moved over to Cask and spent a year and a half building the canning lines, which was an absolute blast! I am currently Lead Operator at Cask On Demand mobile canning, a division of Cask Global Canning. Generally we bring everything a brewery would need in order to package their craft. I get to play with beer all day and it doesn’t get any better than that!
3. What is your biggest pet peeve about the industry?
My biggest pet peeve is the lack of women in the industry. We need more women in the Brewing/Canning roles and not just Front Of House.
4. What do you love most about working in the industry?
Definitely the people! I get to experience all the different breweries, and try new beers. It is amazing to be a part of the process and feel the excitement canning a new brew for the first time or the latest creation to hit the shelves.
5. What is your favourite beer right now?
Oh that’s tough. One is Île Sauvage's Raspberry Sour. Every sip is like picking berries along the path way at my cabin. That beer brings back so many memories.
Local would be either Cabin's Super Saturation NEPA or Dandy's Premium Lager.
6. What local charity should we be paying attention to?
Little Mutts Dog Rescue. Such adorable doggos. I’ve volunteered with LMDR in the past. We fly into cities either Mexico, or all throughout the United States and rescue dogs from high kill shelters. Unfortunately with the pandemic flights have been difficult to arrange with the quarantine requirements (usually fly in and fly out next day). www.littlemuttsrescue.org
